After twenty years as a secondary librarian, I moved to the Midwest and was hired as an elementary librarian at two inner-city Title I schools in Kenosha, WI. One of the schools is Grant Elementary which is almost 100 years old. Although the library has a Promethean board, document camera, 1:1 Chromebooks and iPads, the small facility it was over-crowded and needed to be decluttered.
The technology director suggested that I convert the messy back storage room into another library area. She also paid to move the Promethean board that was blocking the window between the two rooms. I moved the Fiction books and graphic novel stacks to the backroom. The building technology contact suggested moving the Promethean board so we could safely supervise students.
